Delta Cruise Scheduled for February 23, 2008
The Delta Science Center sponsors a family cruise on the science vessel the R.V. Brownlee
www.sfbaymsi.org/brown1.htm Cost for adults is $20.00 and children under 12 are free (minimum age for children is 4 years of age). The vessel leaves from the Antioch Marina at 9:00AM and returns at 1:00PM.
All family members are invited to be involved in the science activities scheduled throughout the cruise. Scientists from the Marine Science Institute lead the activities and show how we all affect the water in the Delta. What is an exotic plant? Are Mitten Crab good for the Delta? How do our watersheds affect our drinking water? You can assist in dragging up all sorts of animals, vertebrae, dirt and silt from the Delta and look at the contents under a microscope with the scientists helping you understand what you are looking at and what it means for the Delta.
